5th Floor
5th Floor is a long-standing Hip-Hop crew from Cape Town, South Africa.
Forming in 1996 as a legendary twelve-man crew – consisting of emcees Korianda, Fungus The Mutated Lung, Kasual T, Camo, S.O.S., Snipa, Royal Son, Kilogram, Pablo, So Swell, Milicent and Pronouns Tha Articulate – the group was a force to be reckoned with in the local scene, known for their formidable freestyle and battle abilities. However it would be many years before the group saw its first release, the single "Kreation" featuring Korianda, appearing on the seminal South African Hip-Hop compilation, 2003's Silvertab Harambe Dope Sessions. In 2004 the group released their debut album Attention To Detail, which featured the entire crew to good effect over beats supplied by Groundworks' producer/rapper Gemini, among others.
In later years the crew fell into disarray, and 5th Floor has since morphed into what is also known as Sex & Revolution – Kasual T and Camo backed by the four-piece band of Cleancut Marc (drums), Omar Kimmie (bass), Kurt Diedericks (keys) and Vicki Mangaliso (vox/guitar). In March 2009 they released the album Sex & Revolution.
