Black Market Riots
An over-the-top energetic group with deep down rhythm and melody combining passionate screams of ballistic Rock 'n' Roll, these four guys won’t stop at anything to make their voices heard above the hard-hitting quakes they are so eager to make! Born out of the soil of Stellenbosch comes Black Market Riots.
They started off in the warm summer of 2008, and being on the scene for just over two years they have found a solid foot to stand on. Winning Die Mystic Boer Battle of the Bands 2008 gave them the opportunity to record their first EP, which launched on 19 September 2009. They have shared the stage with the likes of Van Coke Kartel, Prime Circle, Taxi Violence, Kobus, Knave, and a couple more. They also received their wildcard slot for Oppikoppi 2008 and played the newly established Raka Acoustic Festival in 2009. They had the privilege to open the Stellenbosch Campus Jool Festival 2009 and returned in 2010, sharing the stage with New Holland and The Dirty Skirts.
Their EP, entitled Box of Dreams, launched alongside their debut music video “Machine", and is currently playlisted on MK.
