Dead Lucky
Dead Lucky was formed in 2008, in the small town of Stellenbosch, by Kyle Lakey and Jean Labuschagne. In its original form, Dead Lucky was a fast-paced punk rock band focused on replenishing the dying punk scene in Cape Town and its surrounding areas.
After almost a year and a collection of well received shows the band decided to part ways.
Then, in January 2011, Kyle and Jean decided to reform Dead Lucky, but with a new approach; to resonate the sound and attitude of rock ‘n roll, in its purest form. The horn was sounded and recruitment began, but this time in the city of Cape Town. Graham Strickland and Alex Krause joined the band on guitar and bass guitar respectively. Alex and Graham, having played together for five years (both ex members of Mutiny) gelled well together in the newly reformed band. Their styles of playing, although different, mold the hard, vintage rock ‘n roll style that is Dead Lucky.
With Jean’s unmatched talent on the drums and Kyle’s powerful pipes, the band was good to go. Dead Lucky are here, prepare yourselves.
