Bryter Layter
Mondays 5PM - 7PM
If Aldous Huxley was right and ‘After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music’ then this show is about exploring what great music is trying to express, and how we relate to it. With each themed episode we will consult the greats for their take on such topics as Failure, Humour, Sex, Madness and Beauty. Musicians use their trade to commiserate, to complain and to celebrate. So we attempt to discover what is behind the music, what musicians are trying to ‘say’ with their songs, whether its Beck on break ups, Wilco on War or Leonard Cohen on love. With various scout featuring their finds on the show we’ll have ears in three countries. Other segments include classic comedy, movie music, interviews and requests accompanied by a fitting anecdote aligned with the theme.
