Assembly Radio Is Live!
Kicking off yesterday at 10am, The Assembly is proud to enter a new era in South African music with Assembly Radio – a progressive online music station presenting the best there is that we know, whether local or international, above ground or below.
Assembly Radio launches with 18 original shows, hosted by a diverse and dynamic group of personalities. To name a few, there’s mainstage mainstay Sideshow with her multi-genre Mash Up, Dylan Culhane’s Rock & Rollercoaster, the electro-centric Griet with Dom and Haezer, LMG editor and twitter queen Tecla Ciolfi on Texxed Up Tuesdays, and Andrew Berry debuts a new extension of We-Are-Awesome – plus shows from Discotheque, #SYNW and the After Hours crew. And this is just the beginning, with much more to come…
The station, which will be playing music around the clock, will be streaming live shows between 10am and 10pm, Mondays to Fridays. Special Soundcheck Sessions will feature on Saturday afternoons in the run-up to big live events, including impromptu interviews with bands as they prepare for the night’s show at The Assembly.
A multi-genre music station, Assembly Radio features everything from Indie and Electro to vintage Rock ‘n’ Roll, Hip-Hop, and even obscure World and Outsider music genres, exploring the sounds of The Assembly from peak time to the quieter hours when doors close. Local music will also benefit, as many of the shows will be playing homegrown content alongside international selections.
Assembly Radio is broadcasting live from The Assembly, its studio just off stage left, which made its debut at the recent Jack Parow & P.H.fat show last Saturday. The ‘concept booth’ station was generously kitted out with state-of-the-art equipment from South Africa’s top music equipment retailer, Paul Bothner. Check the video by Adriaan Louw of the soft launch!
